Meet Mrs. Alqadi

 

Welcome to First Grade! My name is Rafiqa Abdelhadi, also known as Ms. Alqadi or Ms. "A", and I will be teaching your child this year. I am truly looking forward to a year full of learning, growth, support, and friendship with both you and your child. I would like to tell you a little bit about myself so we can being to get to know each other. I have a Master's degree in Curriculum and Teacher Leadership from Lewis University, IL. I obtained my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Governors State University in Illinois. I have also completed my Type 75 (Administration Certification) from DePaul University in Illinois. I have taught first grade for fifteen years, two of which were at Palos East Elementary School in Palos Heights, Illinois; this is my fourteenth year teaching at ACS. 

 

My husband, Mohannad, and I have three beautiful children! Ahmad is ten years old, Adam is nine, and Aleena is six. During my "free time" :) I love to cook, swim, and garden. I appreciate good ice cream, and I am always grateful for time spent with family. I enjoy shopping and traveling to new places. Someday I would love to visit the Great Wall of China!

The best thing about working in first grade is being able to share my love of reading and writing with all of your children. Teaching is my passion! I knew I wanted to be a first grade teacher when I was in first grade! I had a fantastic first grade teacher, Mrs. Lee, whom made my experience unforgettable. I hope to be that kind of teacher for your child.
